In 2021, I took a big step toward my family's dream of moving across the ocean and raising our kids in France by purchasing my first Airbnb. Bonjour!
The first year was fantastic, but then my occupancy rates started to drop. I tried to optimize my listing and play nice with the Airbnb algorithm, but it wasn’t enough.
To make matters worse, I kept hearing horror stories about hosts being banned from Airbnb without explanation. The thought of losing everything due to a platform's whim was terrifying. I realized I couldn't rely solely on Airbnb—I needed to take control of my own marketing.
That’s when I came up with a master plan: Direct Booking + Instagram (cue maniacal laugh). I immersed myself in learning from experts, devouring books and videos, and then set off on my journey. There were plenty of trials and errors along the way, but eventually, I cracked the code. By leveraging content creation, giveaways, and influencer partnerships, my direct bookings started to soar.
